The PSPS Team

PSPS, P.L.L.C. retains psychologists that have extensive experience in the field of police psychology to perform pre-employment psychological screening services. Psychologists that work work for PSS, P.C. are regularly trained by Dr. Roberts on the latest assessment techniques and psychological assessment measures. All of our psychologists have at least five years of postgraduate experience in the psychological testing and evaluation of applicants for public safety positions including police officer, firefighter, public safety dispatcher and other civilian public safety classifications.  In addition, each psychologist comes to this contract with extensive practical experience conducting psychological screening for local and national departments. 

Michael Roberts, Ph.D., ABPP

Mike Roberts completed his undergraduate degree in psychology at U.C. Berkeley and received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Connecticut at Storrs in 1971. In the over 40 years Dr. Roberts has been active in the law enforcement field as a psychologist, he has made contributions to both psychology and law enforcement that have received national recognition. Specific contributions include: the co-design of the San Jose Model Field Training and Evaluation Program; the formulation of standards for psychological selection of law enforcement officers; instructing in a course for the major city police chiefs at the FBI Academy for almost 20 years; post-trauma debriefing programs for law enforcement officers starting in 1974; and research on the entry-level selection of police and other public safety officers.

These contributions have resulted in recognition by the law enforcement profession including awards from the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Dr. Roberts' efforts have also been recognized by the psychology profession in his election to Fellow status in Clinical Psychology by the American Psychological Association, and Board Certification in Clinical Psychology and Police and Public Safety Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Ryan Roberts, J.D., Ph.D.

Ryan Roberts completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2008. He earned his Ph.D. at the California School of Professional Psychology.

Dr. Roberts fulfills multiple functions for PSPS, including that of legal counsel, researcher, manager, and screening psychologist. He is responsible for monitoring legal compliance related to our pre-employment screening business as well as conducting innovative research in the field. Dr. Roberts is licensed to practice clinical psychology in the states of California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Illinois, New York, Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Cerise Vablais, MBA, Ph.D., ABPP
Owner

Dr. Vablais received her MBA from the University of Washington's Executive program in 2000 and her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Fielding Graduate University in 2007. Her doctoral dissertation focused on the varied presentation of psychopathy in female offenders received an award from the Society for the Scientific Study of Psychopathy. She has extensive experience in forensic assessment which she gained working for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and the Maryland Department of Health & Mental Hygiene.  Prior to returning to Washington in 2011, she worked as a psychologist and the Director of Mental Health for the Anne Arundel County Detention Center in Annapolis, Maryland. From 2011 – 2015, she worked on the executive leadership team at Fairfax Hospital, an acute crisis stabilization inpatient facility.She has provided expert witness testimony in both Maryland and Washington for matters including competency to stand trial, determining criminal responsibility and involuntary civil commitment.  She holds membership in the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology and the International Critical Stress Foundation. She is currently licensed in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Alaska, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. She joined PSPS in 2015.

Anna Suessbrick, Ph.D.
Consulting Psychologist

PDr. Suessbrick completed her doctorate at the New School of Social Research in New York. She completed her psychology internship at the Portland (Oregon) VA Medical Center, with specialized training in neuropsychological and psychological assessment. She is licensed as a psychologist in Washington and joined PSPS in 2007.
